Welcome 9th Graders

Welcome Parents,

This year your child will make the transition from Middle School to High School, Annandale offers a variety of pathways to success: a college prep track for students motivated to attend college; an honours track for highly motivated students planning to attend a competitive college; and a career or technical track for students planning an occupation such as auto mechanic, electrician, dental assistant, or computer technician.  The goal in 9th grade is to start down the path most likely to be a good fit for your child’s dreams.

To help students sort it all out, please utilize your child’s counselors and teachers. They spend a great amount of time with your child, it’s important to connect with them sooner than later. While students are trying to figure out their place in high school, parents have to find their place, as well, I encourage you to spend time getting to know your child’s teacher, and the principal.

“Be involved,” Go to every meeting that’s announced, every open house, Stay in contact with the teachers and work with the teacher for the betterment and success of your child. Remember: Ninth grade is a time for parents to stay close by and be available when they’re needed. This is your stage and final curtain call to engage your child’s school, this includes getting involved with your PTSA, we stay connected to the school to provide family engagement opportunities, in addition to fundraising events to raise money for scholarships. This year, we have several open positions that need your expertise. The PTSA meets every third Tuesday from 7-9pm in the Library. We have an awesome website that provides updated information on current events.

A school is great when parents, students, and teachers work together. Welcome! To Annandale where relationships matter.

Best Regards,

Norma Foti
