Shoe Drive Fundraiser

Hi Everyone,

The Annandale High School PTSA is holding a shoe fundraiser to support our college scholarships. Every year we raise over $5,500 in scholarship money to help our students attend the college or trade school of their choice and this year is no different. Our school is home to over 2100 students from 30 different countries all over the world. Our free and reduced lunch students make up 54% of our population. We have many challenges and need your support.

In addition, the footwear collected serves as a philanthropic bridge to give people a hand-up and work opportunity, rather than just a handout. Microentreprenueurs set up small businesses. They sell the shoes gathered in communities, which creates business and commerce opportunities leading to sustainability. Because of systemic poverty in many developing countries around the world, working-age adults have to create their own economic opportunities.

The footwear collected during our shoe drive gives our town a socially responsible way to dispose of shoes, which can take more than a lifetime to decompose when discarded improperly.

And that’s why shoes – and our shoe drive fundraiser – are so important!

Please help me help our students by donating your unwanted worn/new shoes. The drive starts January 16th and ends March 16th.  The drop off location is the main office at the school and for those who have 25 pairs or more, we will pick up within a 5 mile radius starting the weekend of January 16th thru March 16th.
