Annandale High students are taking part in the Team America Rocketry Challenge, one of the world’s biggest rocket building contests. Student teams are required to design and build a rocket, then complete four qualifying flights by Monday, April 3. The top 100 teams will be announced Friday, April 7; their captains will be invited to a rocket convention at the White House and have the opportunity to present their projects on national television. The Annandale team also plans to compete in the team outreach category. These events focus on bringing the younger generation into the world of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) and spreading the word about the National Association of Rocketry. The captain of the Atoms team is Nazrawit Tamrat. The other team members include Chioma Okah, Long Nguyen, Anthony Tang, and Alex Banks. For more information contact Phil Harris.
